Anwar Ali

Chief Treasurer

Anwar Ali is a UK-based restaurateur and property developer originally from Sylhet, Bangladesh. Following in his father’s footsteps in the catering industry, he began his career as a chef in West Northampton, developing the skills, discipline, and work ethic that would lay the foundation for his future success.

He first managed Curry Palace in Rye before opening two restaurants of his own: Rashoi in Windlesham in 1986 and Vujon in 1996. Both establishments specialise in Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine and have earned a reputation for quality, authenticity, and consistent high standards.

Alongside his business achievements, Anwar has remained deeply committed to community service. He is one the Founder member and current Chief Treasurer of the British Bangladeshi Caterers Association (BBCA) and serves as Vice President of the Bangladesh Centre, the Juktorajjyo Jalalabad Association, and the European Bangladeshi Association (EPBA). He is also an active member of the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BBCCI), reflecting his longstanding dedication to both the catering profession and the wider British Bangladeshi community.

His commitment extends beyond the UK. In his home region of Sylhet, Bangladesh, Anwar continues to support local mosques and schools, contributing to the development of the community that shaped his early life. Through both his business success and charitable work, he has built a legacy of entrepreneurship, service, and giving back.
